The Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (National Council for the Culture and the Arts) has developed this portal to promote the heritage, activities, policies and the cultural diversity of the states and the different regions of the country, as well as art and cultural expressions from other places on the planet.
e-cultura presents in an orderly fashion the existing information and options on the different webpages of all the areas of CONACULTA and the cultural institutes, councils and secretaries in the states and other public and private institutions related to culture. It functions, at the same time, as an instrument for offering cultural goods and services through the Internet, as an inventory of the cultural infrastructure of Mexico and as a means for the artistic community and the general public to state their comments and proposals.
This is part of the effort that the Federation carries out within the digital government program, known as e-gobierno, which consists of taking advantage of information technologies to transform public services and to offer electronic services to the population. This system makes possible, among other things, that people may, from the comfort of their homes or offices, have access to the services offered by the system.
In the design, planning and consolidation of the cultural policies of the society of today, the basic principles that safeguard fairness of access to the cultural goods and services are included, taking into account, at every moment, that the respect for cultural diversity and the right to it are expressed and declared. Getting to know someone is way of recognizing the other, affirming diversity and admitting our differences.
e-cultura widens the possibilities of access, enjoyment, learning and expression offered to children, young people and adults, to the artistic and intellectual community and to researchers and scholars, about the cultural diversity of Mexico and the world.
